1.        Tenshin Chudan Uke, turn hands out to side, grab hand and apply wrist lock, take down and finish.

2.        Tenshin Chudan Uke, grab hand inside, move forwards into Fudo Dachi and apply arm bar, move under arm, take down and finish.

Ju-nidan

1.        Grab both hands from behind.

2.        Grab leading arm with both hands.

1.        Step forward then immediately lunge backwards and onto knee, hands come around to front, grab opposite hand and twist wrist, take down and finish.

2.        Pin hand to your wrist, move leading arm in a circle and cut down Seriyutoh, locking attackers wrist, take down and finish.

 


 

Nanahon Kumite (Seven Step Sparring)

Also required with defender in right stance.

 

Shodan (Arm Defences) – Comprises Ippon Kumite Shodan, Nidan and Sandan +

Elements of Kata

The following elements of Kata must be practised and understood:

 

1.        Yoi No Kisin – Preparation of the mind prior to performing the kata.

2.        Inyo – Keeping in mind both attack and defence.

3.        Chikara No Kyujaku – Awareness of the differing degrees of power required for each move/position.

4.        Waza No Kankyu – Awareness of the speed requirements for each move.

5.        Tai No Shinshuku – Awareness of the degree of muscular contraction required for each movement.

6.        Kokyu – Correct breathing.

7.        Tyakugan – Accuracy and the target areas.

8.        Kiai – Shouting to demonstrate the martial spirit.

9.        Keitai No Hoji – Correct positioning/stances

10.     Zanshin – Awareness/remaining on guard.
